Mets Pitchers Face 1st Test

7 Apr

Opening Day came and went without a flaw as Johan was Johan, Wright was old Wright and Citi Field never looked better.

Game 2 begins in less than an hour and the real test of this team arrives with John Maine and his right arm. Maine, as well as the rest of this rotation is the biggest question mark for New York this season.

While one game or one run through the rotation does not give a clear indication of what this staff can do, a strong start by at least three of the four starters (not including Santana), and build a confidence within the team and for a fan base that is cautiously optimistic or realisticly pessimistic.

As a Mets fan, tonight you hold your breath. While I find myself really looking forward to watching the game, I wonder if I will be switching over to American Idol because the game is too frustrating.

Hopefully, Idol is secondary and the Mets are worth watching. It is game two of 162, but its importance cannot be minimized.
