Rocky Mets visit Colorado

12 Apr

The Colorado Rockies welcome the New York Mets Tuesday night for a three game series.

The Mets (2-4) will visit the Rockies (3-3) with John Maine on the mound against lefty Greg Smith. Maine, who struggled to throw strikes against the Marlins, will be asked to get the Mets on the right track after the team lost four out of their last five.

New York will depend on Maine, Jon Neise and Mike Pelfrey before the a weekend series in St. Louis.

Mets fans can only hope that a trip away from Queens will take the pressure off and the boys in uniform will simply play ball.

While Jerry Manuel’s team may not be prepared to play the Nationals on a Sunday in Flushing, they better regain that focus from Opening Day as they face a test from one of the league’s best.

As the Mets try to have a better week than the last one, Philadelphia is off to a 6-1 start and may not look back. It is still early, and fans cannot get caught up in the panic that is expected and justified after the past few years, but it is only April.

Yet, one bad road trip and Jerry Watch will begin and hopefully, Bobby Valentine will have his phone on.
