HIT THE ROAD

10 Jun

Well, if they can’t win on the road now, will they ever?

New York leaves comfy Citi Field as the best home team in baseball. They take their act on the road to face two of the American League’s worst before facing one of their best.

Winners of only eight road games this season, a league worst, the Mets hope to right the ship in Baltimore and Cleveland before facing the Yankees in round two of the Subway Series.

The Mets are 32-28, tied for second place with the Phillies and only 2.5 behind the first place Braves.

It would be impressive for this team to take five out of six against the struggling Orioles and Indians. Even if they only take one in the Bronx, the Mets would return to Citi Field with a record of 38-31.

Going 6-3 on this road trip should be expected but given their road struggles, you wonder if it is possible.

The team plays well on the road for the most part but it always feels as if they are a play short.

It is important for the Mets to score some runs early and keep games from remaining close as the home team’s last at bat often leads to misery in Metsville.

New York continues to be the best home team in the game. If they can straighten their act out on the road, this summer will really start to get interesting.
